At Tsukuba Catholic Church, the two couples to be wedded should prepare themselves to receive blessings from God according to Catholic doctrine. However, if one of the couples is a catholic while the other is a non-catholic, the wedding can be arranged between them as long as they fulfill all the necessary conditions for wedding in the church. Should any of the couples be a catholic member of another parish and he/she decides to wed in Tsukuba Catholic Church, a certificate or attestation letter that he/she has been a catholic member of a particular parish is required. The letter must specify that both spouses fulfill all conditions for wedding in the Catholic Church.

Marriage preparation course

Marriage preparation course are conducted for couples prior to their wedding in Tsukuba Catholic Church. Pre-marriage counseling/lectures are organized by the priest or people appointed by the priest. Attendance to pre-marriage counseling by the couples should be up to 5 times and each lecture lasts for one hour. If the marriage course cannot be conducted in the Tsukuba Catholic Church, the couples can be advised to take such lectures in another parish of the Catholic Church. In such cases, a marriage course certificate issued by the parish where the couples undertook their marriage counseling should be presented before they can be wedded in Tsukuba Catholic Church. Marriage preparation course can be conducted for free if the couples do not plan to organize their wedding in Tsukuba Catholic Church.
